Camp Wilani is seeking responsible and caring leaders who live in enthusiastically and care deeply about others. We staff members who are committed to our promise; who want to impact the lives of youth; and who understand the importance of their position in a child’s development. We are looking for staff with the ability to communicate honestly and openly, to stay positive when challenged, to problem solve creatively, and to participate energetically. Working at camp is demanding and staff members need to know how to stay balanced and how to constructively release stress. Camp Wilani looks for staff members who have fun on a regular basis and who inspire others to do the same!
Seasonal resident/day camp positions available. Camp Wilani is a summer camp owned and operated by Camp Fire Wilani located just 20 miles west of Eugene in the foothills of the coast range.
Positions available include: Cabin Counselor (5), Lifeguard (2), Arts and Crafts Programmer (1), Utility Programmer (1), (may include sports and games, archery, camp store).
All staff are hired for both day camp and resident camp sessions. Specialized staff assignments during resident camp do not always translate to day camp. All staff should expect to be unit counselors during day camp sessions.
Required staff training will be held prior to camp and will begin June 20th. The first session of camp will begin June 26nd, and the staff presence will continue at camp until August 5th. There will be a 24-hour break between each weekly session and staff is off July 1-4. (*times off dates are subject to change).
Salaries and Benefits Camp staff receive a stipend based on a weekly rate which is paid at the end of each camp session. This year, basic staff position stipend’s range from $ 975 – $1,475 for the season, depending on experience and certifications. This is for the seven-week period June 20-August 5, 2017. Benefits include food and lodging in addition to the stipend, workers, compensation insurance, breaks between sessions, and at least two hours off each full day of camp sessions. - Summer staff must be at least 18 years old by June 15, 2017.
- Able to commit the entire summer (June 20 –August 5, 2017).
- Able to adhere to the daily schedule.
- Have a clean background check and favorable references.

- Illegal drugs, sexual activity, tobacco, and alcohol are prohibited within the borders of Camp Wilani. If you are found to be in possession or under the influence of illegal substances or alcohol while on duty or on site, you are subject to immediate disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
- We expect all camp staff to maintain good personal hygiene and role model this with campers.
- We expect all staff to be receptive to feedback received throughout the summer and to make appropriate adjustments in their performance.

Summer Staff Positions
Resident and Day Camp Counselor (5) – Lead, guide and provide activity leadership for 6-10 campers of a similar age in camp activities, group living and personal development. A counselor has many roles throughout the summer, successful applicants will be flexible, able to follow a given schedule, have experience working with children and be fun.
Lifeguard (2) – Responsible for the pool and lagoon waterfront areas. Waterfront lifeguard training preferred. Position requires ability to provide instruction on basic canoe skills and techniques. All program staff help plan and execute evening programs and provide time off coverage for cabin staff.
Arts and Crafts (1) – Provide arts and crafts program for all campers. Position requires general knowledge of arts and crafts activities. All program staff help plan and execute evening programs and provide time off coverage for cabin staff.
Utility Programmer (1) – Provide daily program activities as requested. Activities may include sports games, archery and the camp store. Position requires organization and flexibility. All program staff help plan and execute evening programs and provide time off coverage for cabin staff.
